Alexander olson - keys
Alexander is private music theory instructor that was raised in classical lessons beginning at age 5 before migrating towards Jazz/Blues/Soul as a teenager. Mixing the sounds of electromechanical keyboards (Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Clavinet, and Hammond B3) with his classical training, he has developed a versatility that has allowed him to perform in groups ranging from American Idol backing bands to Classical Music Competitions. Alexander won the Grand Prize at the South Dakota State University Talent Competition performing an original piece titled "Coltrane" and played his way through college on a handful of music scholarships. He was a regular sit-in with Jazz bands at "HR 57: Center For Preservation of Jazz and Blues" during an internship in Washington DC and promptly toured through 15 states with a regional rock/ funk band. He cites his biggest musical influences as: Billie Preston, Dr. Lonnie Smith, John Medeski, Ahmad Jamal, Herbie Hancock, and "the grandmaster of funk: Beethoven."
